In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and create social distancing, effective Friday, March 20th at 4:30pm the Richland County Courthouse (181 West Seminary Richland Center, WI 53581) will restrict public entry into the building.
Entry into the Richland County Courthouse may be granted to:
- Citizens with scheduled appointments for services that cannot be conducted via phone, mail, or electronically, and
- Citizens gaining access to the County Clerk’s office for business regarding voting and elections.
Starting Monday, March 23rd at 7:30am a number of Richland County employees may be working remotely, consistent with continuity of operations plans that have been developed. Many employees will continue to perform their functions from within the courthouse and protecting these employees’ health to perform essential services is our goal. We have additional obligations to mitigate any spread to our jail and dispatch unit. Please be advised that all Sheriff’s Office services are in full function, with an expectation to public access to the administrative office.
The entry doors into the courthouse will remained locked until such a time where the public health threat subsides. The doors will be monitored by a combination of staff attendants and/or video surveillance with speaker phone. If entry is needed, citizens will be questioned for symptoms and advised to report directly to the desired department to conduct business.
Richland County officials are encouraging people to conduct business with county departments via phone, mail and email when possible. If you need to meet with a county department you are asked to call ahead and make an appointment with that department. Please do not enter the courthouse if you have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed.
